How to Fix BIOS “View Only Item” Error

Computers have revolutionized the world to a very great extent. However, they run into some issues here and there. In this article, we will look at the "View Only Item" error in BIOS. BIOS is Basic Input/Output System and also known as the System BIOS, ROM BIOS or PC BIOS is non-volatile firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process (power-on startup), and to provide runtime services for operating systems and programs ~ Wikipedia).

Method I

First and foremost, if you’ve enabled a BIOS password, this should be the first place to start. Disabling the password might be the solution you’ve been looking for. Ensure that you’ve disabled the user or supervisor password in your BIOS. NB: This worked for me!!!

Method II

Secondly, if you don’t have an old model motherboard, try flashing a new BIOS. Flashing your BIOS is a simple but delicate process. Follow our guide to conduct the process successfully.

Method III

Finally, try removing the CMOS battery on your motherboard. CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) is the term usually used to describe the small amount of memory on a computer motherboard that stores the BIOS settings. Removing the battery resets your BIOS settings and you’re good to go. Below is a representation of what to look for be it in a laptop or desktop motherboard. Your battery will look like the first image (common in most laptops and desktops) or the second one.
