Infinix X521 aka Hot S is the latest device to have an upgrade from Marshmallow to Nougat. This update had been waited for eagerly by Hot S since it was announced. Several devices have seen Nougat upgrade before the Infinix Hot S including Infinix Note 3, Hot 4 series excluding Hot 4 Lite.
The upgrade is based on Nougat 7.0 and the device still wears the XOS skin. So you shouldnot expect a UI overhaul but rather same XOS skin but with a higher android version. The update brings pretty cool features over the Marshmallow like notifications, quick settings, settings dashboard menu for quick navigation through settings, settings subtitles whereby you can know status of a certain category without selecting it....etc
OTA is not yet available and so for now you can only update by TCARD update. OTA will come later on but if you want to have the update, follow the guide below
CAUTION
- This update will crash/brick rooted devices
- This update requires non-modified stock firmware for best results
- Remember to backup your data before performing the upgrade
- Download the TCARD update from THIS LINK
- Copy the file to the root of your sdcard
- Switch off your device
- Boot into recovery using Volume UP + Power Key
- In the resulting recovery menu, navigate with volume keys to "apply update from sdcard"
- Confirm the option with Power Key
- Navigate to the copied file in the resulting list of files using volume keys
- Select to flash using the Power Key
- Wait till the flashing process is completed
- Reboot your device and be patient as it boots
- Setup your device after it has booted fully
